So, I helped a customer clean up his SP1 and we are trying to find the year of manufacture. I looked on Colt's site and get 1963, data does not support it. Checked other sites and the serial number just doesn't match up to the years.
What is the manufacture date of COLT M16 rifles by Serial number? The geometer's sketchpad key. What is date of manufacture of colt ar-15 sp1 serial no sp45281? Looks like a.
I own two of them, both fired sparingly, and I suspect their value to be around $1150. It really depends upon the buyer and is desire to aquire one. I paid $175 for one of them in 1975 and I can't remember what the other cost.
************ ************** ************ AS OF 2011: These thing s have skyrocketed in price mostly because of the 'Assault Weapon' bans and hysteria. Currently, these are offered for $1299-1599 range online (and they're selling well in the 'Free States' that allow their sale and possession by their free citizens) The H-BAR version (Serial number preceded by a 'CH' for 'Competition' or 'MH' for 'Match' versions) are more desirable and command more money than the 'SP' or 'Sporter' versions. Either rifle is a fun.223 shooter and can be the basis for many conversions and modifications as well as used for competition sports shooting.
My own SP1, and all the others I can recall seeing is marked: CAL. 223 MODEL SP1 SER SP92xxx If it has any other markings, it may well be preban, but you can't call it an SP1---even if the serial number starts with 'SP'. The model name or number is whatever is stamped on the gun. For instance, Fruit of the Loom's piece is preban, but it's a 'Sporter Match HBAR', NOT an SP1, even tho the serial starts with SP. I suspect that may be the cause of confusion here. The SP serial number doesn'tmake it an SP1.
Being marked SP1 on a line above the serial number makes it an SP1. Gta san andreas for pc highly compressed. Flregkey 12.0.1 password. Originally Posted By shamayim: My own SP1, and all the others I can recall seeing is marked: CAL.

Below is a post that I made earlier to another board. Ps: There was no charge for the info.
Vzlet programma otchet. Just had a little piece of info that I thought I'd pass along. I've been looking all over the place for info on my baby's date of birth, so I finally gave up and called Colt's ph# (800-962-2658). I spoke to a customer service rep, gave him the model and serial # (SP1 Carbine - #SP1174xx), and he told me it was made in 1980. I hope this helps someone else with one in the same serial # range.
